FARGO, N.D. – Moore Holding Company, a 100% employee owned holding company, announced today it acquired Communication Network Engineering, Inc. (CNE). Blake Griffin, PE, will remain CNE’s president. The Fargo-based company will retain its name, brand identity and current locations in Fargo and New London, Minn.
CNE employees will become part of the Moore Holding Company employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) upon eligibility, joining the employees of Moore Engineering, Inc., headquartered in West Fargo, N.D., and Holly Beck Surveying and Engineering in Bismarck, N.D.
Jeffry Volk, PE, and CEO of Moore Holding Company, said CNE, as a telecommunication engineering company, represents diversification for its family of companies. “CNE brings us into a whole new engineering specialty,” he said. “From a technical perspective, communication engineering and civil engineering have a lot in common, but they serve entirely different clients and markets. It’s a good fit for us because it meets our goals of expanding services and reaching into new markets. Most importantly, they’re a strong, successful company with a culture that fits well in the employee ownership model.”
Griffin said the Moore Holding Company ESOP model was a great transition for the existing ownership group. “Some of our partners are moving toward retirement and it made sense for our organization to join an employee ownership group,” he said. “Moore Holding Company has the support services and resources to help us reach that next level of growth and strength.”
“Employee ownership makes a lot of sense for a growing company like CNE,” Volk said. “We’re excited to grow together far into the future.”
