Waslaski named Moore Holding Company CEO
August 4, 2021
WEST FARGO, N.D. – Shane Waslaski was recently named chief executive officer of Moore Holding Company by its board of directors. Waslaski has been a Moore Holding Company board member since December 2019.
Jeffry Volk, the current CEO, will transition to executive chairman of the board upon Waslaski becoming CEO.
Waslaski previously was vice president and general manager at Infor, following the acquisition of Intelligent InSites, where he was president, CEO and a board member. Prior to Infor and Intelligent InSites, he was the president of Varistar, a division of Otter Tail Corporation. He currently serves as a board member for Dakota Supply Group and the NDSU Research and Technology Park.
“We’re thrilled to bring in someone with Shane’s experience to lead Moore Holding Company,” said Volk. “We’re entering a new era, and Shane’s history of successfully leading a group of diversified companies is exactly what we need to take Moore to the next level.”
Waslaski likes what he’s seen of Moore Holding Company as a board member, and recognizes the organization’s strong foundation. “The employee ownership culture here drives success. It’s the thing that attracted me in the first place as a board member. I look forward to leaning into that culture as CEO and together creating a vibrant future for every member in this family of companies.”
Moore Holding Company was born from the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) created by Moore Engineering, Inc. in 1998, becoming 100% employee owned in 2004. Moore Engineering, Inc. has seen historic growth since then. Kevin Bucholz has served as Moore Engineering, Inc. president since 2018, and will continue in that role when Waslaski becomes Moore Holding Company CEO.
Moore Holding Company became its own operating entity in 2019 and began actively seeking companies to integrate into the Moore ESOP. Their first acquisition was the North Dakota transportation division of Sambatek, which merged into Moore Engineering, Inc. Holly Beck Surveying and Engineering in Bismarck, N.D., was acquired in June 2020, and Communication Network Engineering (CNE) in Fargo, N.D., joined the group in April 2021. Those two companies continue to operate independently.
“The employee ownership model propelled the growth at Moore Engineering,” said Volk. “We have a very strong organization and I couldn’t be more excited for the future Shane envisions for the enterprise we’ve started building. He has the background and expertise to leverage what we have and maximize its impact for our employees and the communities our companies serve.”
Volk is stepping down as CEO after 44 years with the Moore organization. “I started at Moore Engineering two days after graduating from NDSU, and transitioned to Moore Holding Company in 2019. It’s the only place I’ve ever worked,” he said. “We’ve changed and grown a lot since 1977, but we’ve never changed our commitment to our employees and to serving our clients.”
Waslaski takes over as CEO on September 1, 2021. He has a bachelor’s degree from NDSU, with continuing education in strategy from Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Jill, have three children and reside in the Oakport neighborhood north of Moorhead, Minn.
