This position is responsible for the observation of construction and serves as an onsite project representative while performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge of the plans and contract documents as well as their application on assigned projects
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner while interacting with the public and clients
- Obtain measurements and thoroughly detailed progress information of construction activities
- Coordinates on-site testing when needed
- Inspects and documents materials prior to installation
- Identify potential problems and present solutions to the project team
- Able to work independently on large scale projects
- Interprets and complies with company mandated safety policies
- Travel to project sites will be required – overnights out of town –
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of eight years of experience in the Construction or Civil Engineering industry
- NDDOT certifications/experience a plus
- Must be able to work the same hours as the contractor, up to 16 hours a day when indicated
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to prepare engineering records and to write concise technical reports
- Must be able to interpret construction plans, specifications, and maps
- Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable
- Ability to perform physical work (i.e. strenuous walking, lifting 50+ pounds, catching basin grates and manhole covers, hauling equipment, etc.)
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
